El sancocho de Mamá Fefa

C1561 Wörtershort storySanto Domingo, República DominicanaAnhören · bald verfügbar

Eight months after his grandmother passed away, Joel, 28, finds her handwritten recipe notebook in Santo Domingo and announces in the family chat that he will cook her sancocho. He takes a bus to the market, forgets the coriander, gets advice from the corner-shop owner and follows the notes to the letter. On Sunday, when his aunt says it needs a little salt, he reads the grandmother’s last note — Mireya always says it needs salt; ignore her — and laughter turns into tears. His mother learns the grandmother’s secret stock cube, and Joel realises the dish will always be missing a little something.
