Soroche en La Paz
Tom, a tourist who arrived in La Paz yesterday, visits a small clinic: he has a headache, feels dizzy and tired, has eaten nothing since breakfast and has no allergies. The doctor explains it is soroche (altitude sickness): rest, drink a lot of water and coca tea, eat something light like soup, no alcohol, and take one pill every eight hours; nobody gets used to the altitude in one day.
