La noche del apagón
Last Friday the narrator's family was in the living room — her father and brother watching baseball, her mother reading, she chatting with friends — when the power went out. Because it was so hot, they went out into the street, where all the neighbours already were; Don Ramón played merengue on a battery radio, the children danced and the adults talked. When the power came back at two in the morning, everyone clapped, but they didn't want to go inside.
